The Difference

When trials overwhelm
I ask myself
What good is good worth?
Where man’s temporal trust prevails
What difference is made
By righteousness
And then I hear the words
Don’t hide your light beneath a bushel
You’re sent to earth
To learn to live
To prove your God
And righteousness

I’ve been given this life
I make a difference
A difference through love
A difference by right
From my second estate
Into eternal life
And I will do right
To make a difference
A difference I make

The Lord’s creations are as the sands of the seashore
My works are small indeed
But as a small helm
Leads a ship through stormy waters
I’ll do all that lies in my power
Cheerfully

When I am all alone
I ask the Lord
How may I serve thee?
I know I can’t do everything
But most of all
I can do
Something

1988/89?- My mom asked me to write a song for a youth conference. The theme was making a difference. This was the first time I wrote four vocal parts.(I think it's the only time.)The best thing was getting four of the youth to sing. It was a fun time rehearsing with them.Vocals: Jeff Gabbitas, John Hart, Adam Nillson, and David Salyer
Piano: Peter Urmston
