Bass Lake (everybody needs a break)

A vacation we will take
Cause everybody needs a break
Oh gee what will we bake
When we go to Bass Lake

At Bass Lake we will swim
Everybody can swing on a limb
On Monday we'll sing a hymn
Who will lead us Uncle Jim

At Bass Lake we will eat
Everybody will take a seat
With our peete we will heat
Not our feet, but our meat

Everybody needs a break

At Bass Lake we will build a tent
Even if our stakes are bent
You pay a fee it's less than rent
I wish this camp cost just one cent

At Bass Lake you might like
To climb a hill or take a hike
If the hill is tall and you're a little tyke
You might like to take your bike, psyche

Go to Bass Lake

circa 2000:
Porter wrote this as we drove home from Utah one summer. We were anticipating our family reunion so he sat in the front seat of the car and we worked it out together. He was eight or nine. Some kids recorded with me. Zac and Tyler Coontz, my nephews, have a part, and Tanner sings "Everybody needs a bre- eh- eh -ehk." It cracks me up still today.904
