I Don't Know Why
I walk alone at night
I see my time rush ahead of me
I wonder if he knows where I'm going
Dr. Waitley told me you control your time
But there's never really time to gain control
I never really do the things that I want
I don't know why
I'd like to be a man who could
Help the world or just a few
I'd like to play my part
Is that wrong?
I'd like to write a melody
That would please the world
Or just you and me
I'd like to lift the sorrowed with a song
I don't know why (but I'm sure)
Time your road is bright
Time I wander at night
Do you know me?
Sir my road is bright
Sir I have no sight
Would you lead me?
I know a girl and she's my friend
I think about her often
I try to hide in unrelated thoughts
I bury her and she can't be found
In my mind, then she comes around
A minute's gone and once again I'm caught
I don't know why (but I do)
1989/1990: I wrote this when I was going to college. At that point in my life I was consumed with what the future would bring. I didn't know where time would take me. This was early on in my courtship with Elaine. I was struggling getting my studies done, because I was thinking about Elaine, so I wasted time writing a song.

Wow, this is really good! I didn't know you wrote music...I didn't even know you did anything with music! I guess I wasn't in the ward long enough.
You probably don't know that I write music, too. I haven't done a lot since High School, though...I'm trying to get back into it right now. I'll have to get them digitally recorded & post them....fun fun!
How did you do the recording, did you buy time in a studio, or have your own recording equipment? Joseph & I are having a debate, who's the singer? Is it you?
