SPOCK
Every day I turn on my TV
And what do I see
I see Spock
Yea Yea Spock
It's so fun to watch his ears
Long with a point
He's so Spock
Characteristically Spock
Spock Spock with the vulcan eyes
He's the coolest dude on the Enterprise
He won't say nothing 'less it's logical
I want Spock to be my pal
He shows no emotion he's so advanced
He don't need no chicks
He's so Spock
Way cool Spock
He saves Captain Kirk and then he goes on
To drop the Klingons like flies
He's so Spock
Yea Yea Spock
circa 1979-1980: The lyrics for this song(which really make the song- you could put any chords under them and it would be just as entertaining) were written by my songwriting buddy Brian Champagne. I learned two important things from Brian Champagne about songwriting. You can write about any subject you want and it doesn't matter if people "get you" or not. He used to come up with these "crazy" ideas-when he was 14- and I'd be like - "I don't know what you're talking about, but it sounds good." He gave me a song title-"Five O'clock Shadows" and I really thought that was about shadows haunting you at five O'clock. Most of my best memories were spent with Brian in the Del Monte studios. I know his whole family was annoyed with us goofing around in their garage, but I don't think I've ever laughed any harder than when we were just making up songs(I'm laughing as I write this). When we put Spock together, I remember I was learning to play a tonic-seven (I7)chord to a sub-tonic(IV). My other contribution was a falsetto Star Trek theme song type part. I wish I had the recording we made in Champagne's garage, but this was recorded like in 1999 when I was learning some computer sequencing. I was messing with some bass riffs and it sounded like Spock.
P.S I don't particularly like Leonard Nemoy, but I like Spock.
