You do what you want
To get what you want
And what you want
Is my attention
You bust my heart
To catch my eye
A symbol of
Appreciation
And you break this house inside
You break it in out
In the name of love you scream
In the name of love you shout
Is this love?
I ask myself
As you tear your life
Right of the shelf
And as those around
Give their attention
I see the bad effects
Of good intentions
I don't know if this is love
While in my mind I look up above
You turn this castle into clay
I don't know if this is love
Bustin Walls
You do what you want
To get what you want
And what you want
Is my attention
You bust my heart
To catch my eye
A symbol of
Appreciation
And you break my heart inside
You break it in and out
In the name of love you scream
In the name of love you shout
1988: I was working in a home for developmentally disabled clients. I observed different caregivers and how they dealt with the clients when they acted in inappropriate ways. People had different ways to deal with it. Specifically when the clients were being combative. Most of the time, they didn't know how to express what they really wanted, and you had to read the situation to figure it out. Some caregivers were great at figuring this out and calming them down. Some were either oblivious to it, or didn't care. Many times the caregiver wanted something different than the client- client wants to go for a walk, caregiver wants to watch tv. Anyway, clients sometimes ended up breaking things. There were holes in the walls of the house. When I wrote this I was just trying to figure out what was the best way to treat the clients.
