Life in a Sideshow

Life in a sideshow makes a dollar or two
Inexpensive fun at expense of a few
Constant company when the lights reveal
Muttered words loud sighs
Eyes and hearts are concealed
Everybody wonders
Nobody cares
Everybody fakes a smile
Nobody stares
Cause nobody cares

I'll go on TV
And talk to a stranger
I'll go on TV
And talk to the world
I'll go on TV
And solve all my problems
I'll go on TV
And get me a girl
And change my world

When the show is done and the night is young
I'll wait for the phone to ring
When the night is old and I get no calls
Well I go outside to be seen
Everybody wonders
Nobody cares
Everybody fakes a smile
Nobody stares
Cause nobody cares

Cause no one has the time
To take the time
To feel my heart
To see my mind
An hour's gone
The commercial's on
The power's off
And I am gone

1994: I was thinking about what the crazies were thinking when they went on these shows like Maury Povich or Jerry Springer or even Oprah when they would tell about how weird or terrible their life was. What were they thinking?
